Over 2000 years ago a man named Jesus taught about God and the Kingdom of Heaven. It was recorded that His teachings were new, and that the people were amazed and astonished by them because they had never heard such wisdom before.

The teachings of Jesus have been recorded and preserved in several ancient books of Scripture, and “The Lord Is My Shepherd” is about the history of Jesus’ life, His experiences, and His teachings taken from those ancient books. As well, it includes the complete text from a book called Matthew. The book of Matthew was written by a man named Matthew who was a close friend and follower of Jesus; and he was therefore able to provide a firsthand account of the experiences and teachings of Jesus.

Reflections and considerations have also been provided to support the text from Matthew. The purpose of the reflections are to help the reader understand Matthew’s text. The purpose of the considerations are to help the reader understand how Jesus’ teachings can be applied today in our daily lives.

Many ancient Scriptures predicted specific events which occurred in Jesus’ life, and numerous prophecies were written about Jesus himself, hundreds and even thousands of years before his birth. These ancient writings were carefully transcribed over millenia and concerns have arisen that some of these texts may have been altered over the course of time. However, in 1947, shepherds in the West Bank area of Palestine accidentally stumbled upon hidden sealed clay jars which contained some of those ancient Scriptures, still intact from thousands of years ago. Upon comparing those ancient Scriptures with the transcribed versions of today, the modern versions were found to have been accurate transcriptions of those ancient writings, which put to rest the concerns about today’s texts having being altered. Much of the prophecy text included in “The Lord is My Shepherd” can be found in those ancient transcribed Scriptures.
